What's the best thing to do if I spill red wine on my carpet?

Spilling dark liquid on my cream carpet - is it beyond redemption

We use state of the art carpet cleaning machines to get stains out of your carpet, but there are a few things you need to think about before you call us in. We've been to a number of houses where the stain just keeps coming back no matter how many times we clean it.
If the liquid has soaked through your carpet into the underlay then it's going to come through to the carpet every time you wet it to clean it.
You need to act quickly when the spill occurs - blot the liquid up with either a clean cloth or kitchen roll. Don't rub the stain - you are more likely to spread it around and you might damage the pile of your carpet.
If you can, separate the carpet from the underlay until the stain has dried out. Try to keep the underlay as dry as possible.
Then call us in as soon as possible after the stain occurs - we've got some sprays which we can put on the carpet to help us remove the stain more effectively. Once cleaned, we'll put some ScotchGuard on your carpet to help protect it for the next time!
Remember though, the longer the stain has been there the more difficult it will be to remove. And if you have a light carpet, make sure you ScotchGuard it before celebrating with the red wine.
